In Crosstunes, a piece based on a crossword puzzle Jacob created, musicians solve the puzzle by playing its words as melodies.

Jacob was inspired to write this piece after visiting Chicago in 2016. The melody is based on the heights and positions of the skyscrapers in the Chicago skyline, while the accompaniment represents the hustle and bustle of the city below.

Jacob performs his original composition, "Return Home," with soprano Zori Martinez at the Eastman School of Music in July 2018. The piece is a setting of Jane Eisner's poem of the same name.
